Real Weddings by Elevage Events: Jessica and Brett

Happy February and Happy Valentine’s Day Chicago Brides! Today we want to highlight a wedding from May 2012 – we hope you are inspired!

Jessica and Brett were married May 26, 2012 at Assumption Catholic Church with a crazy fun yet elegant reception at Fulton’s on the River.

The day started off early with the ladies at Hotel Sax – where Eric from Allori Photography took some amazing photos!

When Jessica’s father walked her down the aisle the sun shone through and sparkled throughout Assumption Catholic Church.

The bridesmaids looked fantastic in navy blue dresses by Amsale from Bella Bridesmaid.

As an event planner herself, Jessica knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding design and Beth from Larkspur captured Jessica and Brett’s vision of their reception at Fulton’s on the River perfectly. The room literally had a glow and felt warm, elegant and classic.

The Gold Coast All Stars kept the guests rocking all night long and little touches by Jessica and Brett such as a cigar station made it a night not to be forgotten!

Cheers to you Jessica and Brett! Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day – it was truly our pleasure!

And a big thank you to Eric of Allori Photography for taking such amazing pictures!!

Wine Party! Shower or Engagement Party Idea

Part of the fun of a wedding is all of the excitement leading up to the big day! Your friends and family get to be involved in any engagement party or shower you may have, but why not take their involvement even further? Consider having a wedding wine tasting party for an engagement party or shower idea. Invite friends, family, couples, etc. to sample different red and white wines  and even champagne at the party and rank them on a scale or in order of their favorites. Announce the wine winners at the end of the evening and then serve that wine at your wedding! Guests will love having contributed to a decision they can experience again on the wedding day!

Honeymoon Ideas: Disney Hawaii!

If you are like me and have a great love for all things Disney, you will be so excited to know that Disney has brought its magic to one of the most desired honeymoon destinations – Hawaii! As if Hawaii isn’t magical enough on its own – now you have have the best of both worlds – a magical touch of Disney in the ultimate romance destination! This Disney resort, the Aulani,  is one of a kind. According to reviews, the Disney touches are light and classically done, ensuring no one is overwhelmed by the mouse. The resort is absolutely adult friendly and honeymooners will have the pleasure of being treated with the Disney service standards. Located on the western shore of Oʻahu – 17 miles from the Honolulu International Airport, there is plenty to do both at and outside of the resort.

In addition to a full service 18,000 square foot spa, numerous restaurants and bars and a lazy river, the resort features a one of a kind private snorkeling lagoon for those that want to get up close and personal with wildlife without getting into the ocean.

The activities at the resort are plentiful for adults but there are also fun-loving activities you can take place in as well. Think about how romantic it may be to lay out under the stars while watching one of your favorite Disney romance flicks from your childhood?

Check out the pictures of the resort on the Aulani website!

Love the idea of wearing something big and fun in your hair but it just doesn’t fit into your wedding look? Wear it for your rehearsal!

Wedding Colors: TEAL

Deep Teal is EVERYWHERE as the color of fall 2011 as seen in all the windows down Michigan Avenue and the Pantone Fashion Color Report for Fall 2011.

It evokes feelings of calm and serenity and can be just the right  addition to your wedding color scheme.  You can even use any teal additions to your wedding as your “something blue”!  Try pairing teal with chocolate, taupe or silver.

Feeling really adventurous? Try peacock feathers like this cake from TipsyCake!

Wanting to only pop teal at your wedding instead of having it be a focal point? Tie your bouquet with a  teal bow,  have your bridesmaids wear teal jewelry or wear teal heels under your wedding gown.

Wedding Ideas: Vintage Suitcase

Vintage suitcases. Just plain adorable. Use them in your wedding for favors, programs, gift cards, etc.  and then take them home and have them decorate your house!

Photo: Ribbons and Rust

Even if you are not having a vintage themed wedding, a vintage suitcase can set the scene for your upcoming honeymoon, your love of travel, or your love of all things classic.

Photo: Ribbons and Rust

Use one for programs at an outdoor ceremony by propping it open with a stick.

Use it as a guest book! Buy vintage stickers and have your guests sign them all over the suitcase or have them write you best wishes notes on postcards and drop them in.
