White by Vera Wang

For all the brides that are Gossip Girl fans, you may have caught the “Royal Wedding” episode that aired last night. I was so taken with the beautiful one shoulder organza bridesmaid dress, which is White by Vera Wang, sold at David’s Bridal. The dresses are retailed for under $200. They come in multiple colors, but I absolutely adore the soft pale pink we’ve already been seeing on the red carpet this year. A great and affordable dress if you are in the market for bridesmaid dresses!

Is a Married Monogram on your Wedding Checklist?

As you begin to think about invitations, thank you notes, gift registering and wedding decor, don’t forget to take a moment to chose your married monogram.  As with most wedding styles, there are traditional and modern versions.  Options also exist if you choose to keep your maiden name.  Check out the Etiquette School of Ohio’s guidelines to determine your style or Crane’s website for multiple letter last names or other dynamic variations.

Once you have decided on your married monogram, take advantage of the complimentary monograming offered on linens and towels ordered off your Bloomingdales Registry! Or add it into your wedding details such as the cake, bridal bouquet or dance floor lighting!

And remember never to use your married monogram unti after the wedding!  Things like the save-the-dates and invitations should use a monogram with just your first initial or first name.

Wedding Color Palette: Powder Blue and Nude

Powder Blue and Nude combined together creates a peaceful, soothing and uplifting feel. Think of the way the sky looks at daybreak with all the colors blending together. Check out some pictures below from Martha Stewart Weddings that show different ways to incorporate the colors into your wedding decor.

Golden Globes Red Carpet Style

Today we are taking a break from wedding gown designers, I wanted to highlight some stunning gowns from Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet. These dresses are right off the runway, and we know that runway styles carry over into bridal lines. Here are some of my favorites of the evening.

1. Angelina Jolie in Versace

A show stopper in this romantic, but fierce gown. The satin material in this dress graces her body, and the pop of red on the lips and top add the WOW factor.

2. Claire Danes in J. Mendel

Black and White with a modern and trendy twist. The detail added to this gown along with the open back was absolutely stunning.

3. Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli

We saw a lot of pale pink on the carpet, and I think this will be an upcoming color trend for 2012 brides. Kate’s dress could easily be an inspiration for a bridal gown, or a color for bridesmaids dresses.

4. Salma Hayek in Gucci

We’ve seen a lot of metallic tones in color pallets lately, and Salma Hayek’s dress is just that. I love the structured top, and all the colors work together very well, even with the tiny hint of red, which was another major color on the carpet this year.

5. Emma Stone in Lanvin

The way this dress flows, I could easily see this style crossing over to the bridal lines. Dark purples have been very hot lately, and this airy dress not only works on the red carpet, but could work down the aisle too.

Pinterest and the Modern Bride

Let’s be honest, we’ve all done it…spent just a few too many minutes, errr hours, of ‘company’ time wedding planning and wedding daydreaming.  Well, brides and dreamers rejoice – there is a new inspiration source in town!  Pinterest.

Pinterest is the first social networking tool of its kind wherein you can organize AND share online images you find interesting.  The images uploaded on Pinterest become known as Pins, which the user then organizes on customized, themed, boards.

Basically, it’s a virtual pinboard.  Allowing you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find in your life.

What’s not to love for wedding planning?!  Log-in, search wedding ideas and let the games begin!

Also, note – it goes well beyond just weddings.  Looking for visuals of your honeymoon spot or dream home with your hubby? Look no further!

Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.  AND there are a lot of people out there – Pinterest has seen it’s popularity explode from 1.2 million users in August to over 4 million to date!

So, what are you waiting for?  Get pinning! And look out for the Elevage Events board coming soon!
