Weddings and Sports Themes

In a few days, many of you will be gathering to watch college football bowl games.  It is also a perfect time to get your fiancé involved in wedding planning and brainstorm on how personalize your details with sports!

Think about doing a sports themed grooms cake.

Or cuff links for the groomsman gifts.

Available at Nordstroms

Or tie a sports theme into your favors or place cards.  I was at a wedding this summer where the groom was really into hockey.  They used pucks as the place cards and they doubled as the favors!

Have fun personalizing your wedding whatever the theme!  Details make your wedding unique and are what people tend to remember about your wedding — besides how happy you two looked!

Last Minute Gift Ideas

So if you are realizing Christmas is this week, fear not. I have listed some gift ideas and your recipient never has to know you waited until last minute to buy them.

Who wouldn’t want to cozy up in these for the winter? Check out UGG slippers.

Skinnygirl Cocktails– You can never go wrong with booze, and this cuts the calories-double win!

Sprinkles cupcakes have the best Holiday Cupcakes you can pick up in the store or order online. Check them out. Always a crowd pleaser, very delicious!

Philosophy has a great collection of holiday gift sets. Check it out at Sephora!

Locks of Love: Wedding Hair

It’s cold and Holiday shopping should be complete.  Let’s talk about something fun….HAIR!!  We all know “good” wedding hair can make or break a look.  So, let’s get to work!

Have great hair and want to show it off?? Wear it down and wavy – you will not be disappointed.

I mean….who wouldn’t want to look like this on their wedding day!?!  HOT!

OR down with a twist?

And last – but not least – you can pull it back and add some flair…

You really can’t go wrong.

Just make sure you have a hair trial with your stylist before the big day! The last thing you want is extra, unnecessary, hair stress.

Have a wedding style you love?!  SEND it in and we’ll post it on the blog :)

Wedding Shoes That Sparkle!

Only 10 days until Christmas!  Why not splurge on a gift for yourself such as a gorgeous pair of wedding shoes that would keep on giving after your big day?  Dress up your jeans for a night out with the girls or add some sparkle to your LBD.

Check out these glitter encrusted Kate Spade shoes from Bloomingdales:

Or these from a local Chicago favorite, James Ciccotti:

Or these Benjamin Adams shoes from The Left Bank inspired by the Royal Wedding!

And my personal favorite that I wore on my wedding day from Saks Fifth Avenue:

Just don’t forget to take advantage of all the holiday promotions for free shipping and discounts!  Happy Shopping:)

Fabulous Wedding Cakes

There are a lot of sweets going around this time of year, and it got me thinking about my favorite sweet- wedding cakes! I came across a few that I really liked on theknot.com, and I wanted to share.

This cake is by Take the Cake located in Chicago, and I love how the scattered sugar flowers give this an elegant and romantic look.

A white and black cake. So simple, but so sophisticated and classic. Cake by Wildflour Bakery & Cafe located in the Chicago Area.

Mini wedding cakes have been a very popular trend. I love this idea, as it creates a beautiful display and you can have multiple flavors.

Cake by Sweet Element, located in New York. Inspired by Monique Lhuillier – each cake has dressmaker details.

Marriage Photos and Mistletoe

Good morning, Chicago Brides.  Only a few working weeks left until the Holidays.  What remains on your Holiday to-do list?  Design and mail Holiday cards, perhaps?  Look no further than your wedding album…

What’s not to love!?  Your guests will enjoy seeing images of your lovely day again and it’s the perfect way to close out your wedding year.

Pick one of your favorite shots or select a few…

So, there you have it.  No more excuses for not having your cards done.  Good luck!

Popular Wedding Colors: Green Ideas

It’s Christmas time! Green and red colored decorations are all around us.  Where ever you may venture this holiday season it will be hard not to notice these Christmas colors.  When it comes to picking a color scheme for your wedding it’s easiest to start with a base and then pick accent colors.  In my opinion, green is a color that goes with every season.

Meet Katie Gillig of the Elevage Events Team

We are so excited to welcome Katie Gillig to the Elevage Events Team!

Katie Gillig’s expertise and passion lies in project management. She was able to marry her love of organization, checklists and weddings when she became a part of the Elevage Events team. The University of Michigan graduate has a background in product and compliance related projects requiring meticulous planning and timely implementation which has ties directly into the wedding industry.

While working closely with Ali Phillips of Engaging Events by Ali, Katie fell in love with all of the love and magic involved in planning a wedding. In the midst of all of the decisions from the venue to the dress down to the napkins, her favorite moment is when the couple realizes that everyone they love is going to be in one room to celebrate their relationship. Such a humbling experience.

Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Ken, exercising and eating chocolate! As quoted by Charles M. Schulz, “All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.”

Winter Wedding Ideas

I was at a friend’s wedding this past weekend,  and absolutely adored her faux fur white jacket that she wore during the ceremony. It redminded me of Kate Middleton’s second wedding dress at the Royal Wedding pictured below. It’s romantic and stylish at the same time. She looked like a snow princess in December.

For favors, what is more practical than an ornament? The couple can personalize it if they wish, or just choose a beautiful ornament for their guests to take home to put on their tree. Every year when they decorate it, they will be reminded of the wedding.
